    Strictly Inapplicable Scenarios

Wells deeper than 4000m: 10kN breaking strength cannot support total tension of cable weight + logging tool weight, high risk of cable breakage.

High-deviation wells (> 60°) / short-radius horizontal wells: Insufficient torsion and friction resistance; minimum bending diameter cannot match high-build trajectories, easily causing fiber breakage and signal failure.

Ultra-high temperature wells (> 200℃): Exceeds rated temperature, causing insulation aging, increased fiber attenuation, and monitoring failure.

Severe corrosive wells (high H₂S/CO₂ concentration): Standard stainless steel cannot resist long-term severe corrosion, leading to armor rust and fiber damage.

Ultra-high pressure wells (pressure > 140MPa): Exceeds rated pressure resistance, risking seal failure, structural damage, and safety hazards.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q What is the maximum well depth this fiber optic cable system is rated for?
The system is rated for well depths up to 4000m. Beyond this depth, the 10kN breaking strength cannot safely support the combined tension of cable weight and logging tool weight, significantly increasing the risk of cable breakage and system failure.
Q Can this system be used in horizontal or high-deviation wells?
The system supports medium-deviation directional wells up to 60° and shale gas long-radius horizontal wells with a horizontal section of up to 1000m. It is not suitable for high-deviation wells exceeding 60° or short-radius horizontal wells, as the torsion and friction resistance may be insufficient, risking fiber breakage and signal failure.
Q What is the maximum operating temperature for this downhole fiber optic cable?
The cable is rated for a maximum continuous operating temperature of 200℃ (392℉). It features a high-temperature resistant insulation layer for stable long-term performance at this rating. Use in ultra-high temperature environments exceeding 200℃ is strictly not recommended, as it will cause insulation aging and increased fiber attenuation.
Q Is this cable suitable for wells with corrosive formation fluids such as H₂S or CO₂?
The cable features a stainless steel outer tube and FEP encapsulation that provide good resistance to moderate corrosive environments including H₂S, CO₂, and Cl⁻. However, it is not suitable for severely corrosive wells with high concentrations of H₂S or CO₂, as standard stainless steel cannot withstand long-term severe corrosion, which may lead to armor rust and fiber damage.
Q What fiber types are included and what monitoring applications do they support?
The cable includes 2 single-mode (B1) fibers and 2 multi-mode (A1a) fibers within an 11×11mm square cross-section stainless steel unit tube. This configuration supports both DTS (Distributed Temperature Sensing) and DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensing) optical signal transmission, making it suitable for a wide range of downhole monitoring applications including production monitoring, fracturing monitoring, and permanent reservoir surveillance.
Q What is the maximum rated pressure for this fiber optic cable system?
The system has a rated pressure resistance of up to 140MPa. Deployment in ultra-high pressure wells exceeding 140MPa is strictly prohibited, as it risks seal failure, structural damage to the cable, and potential safety hazards during downhole operations.
