    Applicable Well Types

    1. Conventional Oil & Gas Wells

Adaptable Well Types: Medium deep vertical wells (depth ≤ 4000m), medium deviation directional wells (build up section ≤ 60°), medium shallow cased wells (φ89mm/φ114mm casing), medium shallow open hole wells.
Typical Applications: Medium deep oil & gas exploration wells, dynamic monitoring of conventional production wells, cased well completion monitoring, open hole exploration logging.

    2. Unconventional Oil & Gas Wells

Adaptable Well Types: Medium shallow coalbed methane (CBM) wells (depth ≤ 2500m), shale gas long radius horizontal wells (horizontal section ≤ 1000m), tight oil & gas development wells.
Typical Applications: Production monitoring of CBM development wells, shale gas horizontal well fracturing monitoring, tight reservoir dynamic monitoring, permanent monitoring of unconventional wells.

    3. Other Exploration & Engineering Wells

Adaptable Well Types: Medium shallow geothermal wells (bottomhole temperature ≤ 150℃, depth ≤ 2500m), hydrogeological exploration wells, underground coal mine monitoring wells, medium shallow water injection wells.
Typical Applications: Medium temperature geothermal resource monitoring, groundwater hydrological data collection, coal mine underground gas monitoring, water injection profile monitoring.

    Strictly Inapplicable Scenarios

The following conditions exceed rated specifications — do NOT apply this cable.
    1

Ultra Deep Wells (depth > 4000m): 10kN breaking strength cannot support total tension of cable weight + logging tool weight, high risk of cable breakage.

    2

High Deviation Wells (> 60°) / Short Radius Horizontal Wells (build up rate > 12°/100ft): Insufficient torsion and friction resistance; minimum bending diameter (800mm) cannot match high build trajectories, easily causing fiber breakage and signal failure.

    3

Ultra High Temperature Wells (bottomhole temperature > 150℃): Exceeds rated temperature, causing FEP insulation aging, increased fiber attenuation, and monitoring failure.

    4

Severe Corrosive Wells (high H₂S/CO₂ concentration): Standard 316L/A825 stainless steel cannot resist long term severe corrosion, leading to armor rust and fiber damage.

    5

Ultra High Pressure Wells (pressure > 140MPa): Exceeds rated pressure resistance, risking seal failure, structural damage, and safety hazards.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q What is the maximum well depth this fiber optic cable is rated for?

This cable is rated for well depths up to 4000m. Beyond this depth, the 10kN breaking strength is insufficient to support the combined tension of cable weight and logging tool weight, creating a high risk of cable breakage. For ultra-deep wells exceeding 4000m, a higher-strength cable solution is required.

Q Can this cable be used in high-deviation or horizontal wells?

The cable is suitable for medium-deviation directional wells with a build-up section of 60° or less, and long-radius horizontal wells with a horizontal section up to 1000m. It is not suitable for high-deviation wells exceeding 60° or short-radius horizontal wells with a build-up rate greater than 12°/100ft, as the minimum bending diameter of 800mm cannot accommodate such trajectories.

Q What fiber types are included and what monitoring applications do they support?

The cable includes 2 single-mode (B1) fibers and 2 multi-mode (A1a) fibers, housed in a 316L/A825 stainless steel fiber unit tube. This configuration supports both Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) and Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) applications, making it suitable for a wide range of downhole monitoring tasks including production monitoring, fracturing monitoring, and reservoir dynamic analysis.

Q Is this cable suitable for corrosive well environments containing H₂S or CO₂?

The cable features 316L/A825 stainless steel outer tube construction with FEP encapsulation, providing moderate corrosion resistance against H₂S, CO₂, and Cl⁻ formation fluids under standard conditions. However, it is not suitable for severely corrosive wells with high concentrations of H₂S or CO₂, as prolonged exposure can cause armor rust and fiber damage beyond the material's rated resistance.

Q What are the temperature and pressure limits for this cable?

The cable has a rated temperature limit of 150℃ (302℉) and a rated pressure resistance of up to 100MPa (with an absolute maximum of 140MPa). It is not suitable for ultra-high temperature wells exceeding 150℃, as elevated temperatures cause FEP insulation aging and increased fiber attenuation. Wells with pressures exceeding 140MPa risk seal failure and structural damage.

Q Can this cable be used for unconventional resources such as shale gas or coalbed methane?

Yes. This cable is well-suited for unconventional resource applications including shale gas long-radius horizontal wells (horizontal section ≤ 1000m), coalbed methane (CBM) development wells (depth ≤ 2500m), and tight oil & gas development wells. Typical uses include fracturing monitoring, production profile monitoring, and permanent downhole monitoring in unconventional reservoirs.
